The Gardner’s House Scholarship in Honor of Dr. Beth Colombe

We are excited to announce that applications are officially open for the Gardner’s House, Inc. Scholarship, presented in honor of Dr. Beth Colombe, PhD (Immunology/Immunogenetics). Dr. Beth served as Vice President of Gardner’s House and was an avid, generous supporter of our mission until her passing.

This scholarship celebrates Dr. Colombe’s legacy and honors the strength and resilience of cancer survivors by supporting the educational goals of impacted students and their families. This opportunity is open exclusively to residents of Connecticut.

Who Can Apply

High school graduates, undergraduate students, or trade school students residing in Connecticut who are current cancer patients, cancer survivors, or immediate family members of an individual impacted by cancer.

Award Purpose: To assist with tuition, books, or related educational expenses.

Application Deadline: September 12, 2026

Application Requirements

Please submit the following items by email to gardnerhousect@gmail.com by September 12, 2026:

  • Contact Information — Full name, phone number, email address, current school, and expected graduation date.
  • Proof of Enrollment — A recent official or unofficial transcript, acceptance letter, or current class schedule.
  • Essay Response (300–500 words) — Please address the following prompt:

“How has cancer impacted your life, and how have you navigated that journey? Based on your research or personal experience, why is the role of an organization like Gardner’s House important, and how do you currently support—or plan to support—the cancer community in the future?”

Award Ceremony

The scholarship recipient will be celebrated during our annual Pretty in Pink Ball on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the North Banquet Hall in Hartford. Attendance is required to accept the award. The recipient will receive ONE complimentary event ticket, and another at a discounted price.
